A Confession Of My Obsessions!

I picked up this tag from Momza's House--A confession of my obsessions. Actually I think I am supposed to be confessing my addictions, but since "obsession" rhymed better, I went with that.

1. Chocolate.

So lets get the food out of the way first. I really like chocolate. I like it solid, in cake, on ice cream, warm and gooey, cold or hot. I just don't like it dark or white. But milk chocolate in all its forms . . . yummmm.

2. Dishes.

I don't really get this one, but I LOVE dishes. I love dinner plates, cups, and serving bowls. I have really cute green plates for spring, red ones for Christmas, burgundy for fall, purple and gold ones for special occasions, multi colored for Mexican night, china for really special occasions and white ones for regular use. But the funny thing is . . . I almost always use paper plates! The only time I ever get out my vast array of dishes is on Sunday or when we have company.

3. Fresh flowers.

I love them! They make my heart sing. And my favorite flowers of all are tulips. I think that is because they are so simple and fresh looking.

4. Just about anything purple.

I am drawn to anything in a store that is purple. Paper, clothes, napkins, purses, anything. And I have a hard time not buying it. I am getting better though. I have realized that a person can only use so many purple jackets and sweaters. And yes, all those in the picture are mine.

I think that is probably enough confession for one day. If anyone else wants to pick up the tag, feel free!

Hawaiian Toilets and Tags

My very good friend since high school, Jaye Lynn, took this picture on her trip to Maui and I couldn't resist stealing it.
Seriously, is drinking water from the toilet a common concern in Hawaii????

And another good friend, Donise, tagged me with
The ABC's of Me
so here goes!
A- Age: 42 . . . and holding (and have been for a few years)
B- Bed size: king, of course
C- Chore you hate: Laundry!!!
D- Dad's name: Milton
E- Essential start of your day: scriptures, prayers, checking emails
F- Favorite color: purple
G- Gold or Silver: Gold
H- Height: 5' 8"
I- Instruments you play: Piano--but rather poorly
J- Job title: Mom
K- Kids: 5
L- Living arrangements: with my increasingly diminishing family
M- Mom's name: Valoy
N- Nicknames: Duffy (named myself when 2 years old)
O- Overnight stay in a hospital other than your birth: birth of 5 children and 2 night stay after abdominal surgery
P- Pet Peeve: Waiting for people
Q- Quote from a movie: " These mashed potatoes are so creamy"
R- Right or left handed: left
S- Siblings: 4 sisters, 3 brothers
T- Time you wake up: 4:40 a.m.
U- Underwear: of course!
V- Vegetable you dislike: brussel sprouts
W- Ways you drink your coffee: I don't, but I love hot chocolate
X-rays you've had: teeth and about 8 broken bones
Y- Yummy food you make: cinnamon rolls
Z- Zoo favorites: monkeys
Now I pass this on to anyone who wants to participate--but let me know so I can be sure and visit your blog.
Lastly, about our dog . . . hmmm, much more work than I anticipated. I am sure the dogs we had growing up didn't require this much supervision (or else my mother just did all the work so I didn't notice).
But . . . one of the reasons we took the dog is because our son, Ryan, and his sweet wife, Kali, had three dogs which we were told was one too many. So we took Lacy, leaving them two.
Well, guess what!! Ryan went out and got another dog, so they are back up to three! I think that is a good reason to let your kids have pets while they are young. When they become adults, they don't have to compensate for what they didn't have!

AND . . . . KEEPING IT REAL!!!

THANKS TO JENNY

Have you ever noticed that I am NEVER in any of my pictures???

There is a reason for that. I don't like taking/posting/looking at pictures of myself. But in the spirit of being a good sport, I took this one. I am just glad I teach seminary so I am up and dressed early in the morning--I just always look really, really tired.

But the good news is now I get to pass the fun on!

Here are the rules

Take a picture of yourself right now.
No primping or preparing.
Just snap a picture.
Load the picture onto your blog.
(And no editing the picture!)
Tag some people to play.

So you lucky ladies-I hope you have your cameras ready because . .

You are being tagged!

Momza's House
And while you are visiting Carolyn's blog, you can also learn what a "Turducken" is.

Here is a picture of my
HAPPY SHOES!

They aren't new, I just found them in the back of my closet while looking for summer shoes. I love the bows on them though, and every time I look at them, they make me smile!

May you all have a great day, and may you always find . . . .joy in the journey!
